Sparkler Brand Campaign & Redesign

Comprehensive brand campaign across digital and print platforms

Role

Creative Director, Designer

Company
Sparkler Learning

Location

San Francisco, CA

Challenge

Sparkler, an innovative early-childhood learning platform, was struggling with fragmented visuals and messaging that didn’t reflect the joy, accessibility, and cultural inclusivity at the heart of its mission. Families, educators, and partners needed a clear sense of what Sparkler stood for, yet the existing materials felt inconsistent and lacked the warmth and clarity required to build trust. The challenge was to create a cohesive brand system that could resonate across diverse communities while standing out in a crowded ed-tech landscape.

Solution

A comprehensive brand campaign and redesign brought Sparkler’s story to life across print, digital, and environmental channels. High-contrast illustrations, playful yet structured design elements, and culturally inclusive visuals created a system that was both engaging for children and credible for partners. The refreshed identity extended across books, activity kits, posters, mirror decals, and outreach collateral, creating consistency at every touchpoint. The result was a vibrant, approachable brand expression that amplified Sparkler’s mission to empower families and caregivers in supporting early learning anytime, anywhere.

Geometric shapes with rounded corners, as well as a colorful palette are extracted from the logo for the San Francisco Department of Early Childhood. These geometric shapes are then rearranged to form more complex shapes in a tile pattern, taking the form of a house, butterfly, heart, rocket, etc.

Simple geometric shapes with rounded corners are matched to the four domains of learning in the Sparkler curriculum: body, heart, mind, and words. These shapes are then turned in to characters that interact with, illustrate, and imitate the action taking place in the illustrations.

The color palette is turned into a gradient, which is used on dots, swirls and waves that serve to accent movement, highlight important information, and direct attention in the illustrations.
